This winter season, the Msgr. King Outreach Center opened its doors during inclement weather and provided a warm, safe place to sleep, nourishing meals and fellowship:

• Provided shelter for 45 nights
• Averaged 44 or more guests per night (a total of 1,980 individuals)
• Served over 2,200 plates of food                                                                                                 MKOCBetty
• Approximately 22 % of our guests were women
• Approximately 26 % of our guests were newly homeless this year
• 7 different Denton area restaurants and other local groups and individuals provided dinners
• Members from 10 different Denton area churches volunteered
• Over 3,000 total volunteer hours

“There are many opportunities to assist in this ministry.  Volunteers are needed to provide evening meals for approximately 40 to 60 guests, assist with the set up of the facility during the evenings, provide a presence for shifts throughout the night (there is always more than one volunteer), and assist with cleanup and laundry in the morning.  Some of these opportunities can be provided by a single individual, others (such as meals) are more easily managed by an existing group.”
